During Eastern we made a short trip to Berlin. Hence we would like to illustrate our impressions; of couse we would like to offer some recommendations.
(Berlin Mitte, next to Berlin cathedral)
Our recommendations:
- Accommodation: Swisssotel – This hotel offers excellent service. It is located next to Berlin’s famous shopping street, the “Ku’ damm” (offical name of the Ku’ damm: “Kurfürstendamm”)
- Lunch: Restaurant “44” in Swisssotel: Cook Tim Raue (the cook 2007 in Berlin (Guide Gault Millau)) offers a very excellent selection of fine meals and desserts (try the home made chocolade!)
- Coffee and cake: We Germans are keen on sweets;Â hence we enjoy coffee and cookies. Visit the “Opernkaffee” , which is part of the Opernpalais (Berlin, Unter den Linden 5).
- Bar: Newton Bar – a nice place to enjoy a cocktail or a very exclusive whiskey (Berlin, Charlottenstrasse 56)

Berlin is a place for new ideas and experiements, too. In order to respond to an increasing demand for one-familiy houses in the heart of a city, a group of architects developed the concept of townhouses.

The world’s most famous polar bear baby – Knut!
People on these pictures do not wait for pop star or a famous polititian. They queue to see the new maskot of the Berlin Zoo, a polar bear baby called Knut. Knut has become very popular; two times a day zoo visitors have the chance to see Knut.

Berlin is a place to test new concepts and ideas for the point of sales. “Unter den Linden” you can find a new concept by a travel office to attract new customers.
